Varanasi, the holy city of India, is also known by the names of Kashi and Banaras. Kashi, the city of moksha for Hindus since centuries, is also known for its fine quality Silks, Paan and Banaras Hindu University and Avimukta of the ancient days. One of the seven holiest cities, Varanasi is also one of the shakti peethas and one of the twelve Jyotir Lingham sites in India. Considered as the abode of lord Shiva. Varanasi is situated on the banks of river Ganga. The holy city has been a symbol of spiritualism, philosophy and mysticism for thousands of years. Varanasi is well connected 10 Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow & Patna by Rail & Air. Airport is around 30 kms from BHU campus. The weather during early October is pleasant with maximum temperature between 25 to 35°C and minimum around 20°C. Nearby places of interest include Sarnath, which is the place of enlightenment of Lord Buddha (20 km). Ram Nagar Fort (5 km) and Vindhyachal (70 km).
